For the past decade, I have been a Conservative Constitutional Activist. I have sought to educate and awaken Americans to the fact that neither the Republican or Democratic representatives and leadership in Washington have our interests at heart.
In July 2009, I decided that doing rallies and protesting was not going to be enough. We needed to get true Conservative Constitutionists into office. I chose the very liberal, faux Conservative Rep. David Scott (D) of the 13th Congressional District, Georgia. I decided to initially run as an Independent after looking over the district dynamics, and realizing that in a heavily Democratic district (upwards of 70%), and the fact no Republican candidate has received better than 34% of the vote, that running as a Republican was a dead end and as an Independent, I had a chance to draw away Conservative Democrats to add to the Republican and Independent voters. I had also been informed the GOP had no interest running a candidate in the 13th Congressional District.
I ran a campaign as an Independent Conservative Constitutionist, the heart and soul of my principles and beliefs, through January 2010. It was during that month that Campaign for Liberty had a regional conference in Atlanta, Georgia. I was not in attendance (fees were a bit out of reach on my budget), but I had a few people feeling things out for me. Here what was learned:
1. I had a great platform that conformed to the Constitution and ran along the C4L goals for the most part.
2. All agreed that the incumbent, Rep. David Scott, has got to go.
3. However - as an Independent, I have no chance of getting elected, so they would not vote for me.
You can imagine the frustration that information was for me. Then came the Scott Brown win in Massachusetts. Currently, there are six people have filed with the Federal Elections Commission as Republican candidates running for the nomination in the 13th Congressional District, Georgia.
Now - considering the dynamics of this district, add in the fact that people are very PARTY biased in their voting, I saw that if David Scott ran unopposed in the Democratic primary, that he would beat whoever the Republican Candidate would be in November, despite the citizens anger. The numbers are on his side. Conservative Democrats want change, they want Scott out, but they will not cross party lines to do it, even if the GOP Candidate is black, as in the case of Dr. Deborah Honeycutt in 2006 and 2008. He would still garner at least 55% of the vote, and all he needs is 50% +1.
I was facing a choice - drop out completely and watch David Scott win again in November, or to be bold, and run against him on his own ticket. I CHOSE TO BE BOLD.
My principles, ethics, and beliefs have not changed. I am still a Christian, still Conservative, and very much a Constitutionist. I launched a new caucus called New Liberty Democrats. The goal of it is to Restore Jeffersonian Constitutional Principles and Conservative Values, while Purging Progressivism from the party, mainly from its Leadership.
I have decided to ally with the National Precinct Alliance to develop a strong Precinct strategy to infiltrate the Democratic party, not only in Georgia but nationwide, by putting conservative Constitutionist into precinct executive/chairman positions currently open. It is estimated nearly 40% of the available precinct chairs in BOTH parties remain empty. These people vote on and nominate the officers for the County Parties, which then reverberate upwards into the District and then the State. These people also vote on and nominate candidates.
I am not a Progressive Democrat. I am an Independent Conservative Constitutionist. I am running as a New Liberty Democrat ONLY to force David Scott to fight in the primary - to give him a challenger so he cannot run unopposed, and give Conservative Democrats and Independents a choice in the Democratic Primary, and ability to toss David Scott out of office, without having to cross party lines to do it. The end result - no David Scott ANYWHERE on the ballot in November!
This is the kind of thing I have been preaching and teaching. IT IS NOT ABOUT THE PARTY - BOTH ARE SCREWED UP. You need to look past the party and look at the person running. Where does the candidate stand on the issues, what is this person's history? I am not a career politician, and have no plan to make it a career. Four terms and done. That should be long enough to help get other Constitutional representatives in Washington, and make the changes needed to get us back on track.
I won't kow-tow to Pelosi if she can keep her job and keep the majority. In fact - I will be voting against her, and seek to get a coalition to push someone more constitutionally aware. Still looking for that person, maybe if New Liberty can get enough Constitutionists to do the same as I have, then perhaps we can start with changing the Speaker of the House. I will work with either party to push for Constitutional legislation. I will not work with anyone seeking to trample the Constitution and will fight that legislation, regardless of what party puts it forward.
